Up With Chris Hayes | Down With All The Commercials!

Weekends for me usually involve watching TV shows that keep me informed, get me thinking, and sometimes get me riled up.

Chris Hayes has a fairly new show on MSNBC that airs on Saturday and Sunday mornings. It’s a great show, and he features lots of smart people.

I tend to get a bit riled up, but not because of the discussions. (Okay-sometimes because of the discussions.) It’s the commercials, and they seem to happen every 7 minutes or so.

And, Chris breaks away for them right smack dab in the middle of a great discussion.

It’s interruption marketing at it’s worst, and I’m at the point at which I’ll either;

A. Quit watching the show

B. DVR the darn thing, so I can skip through the commercials.

I understand ad revenue. There must be another option though. It’s ruining the show.

ATT Customer Care Doesn’t Care

I should have listened to my gut. All I wanted to do was save a few hundred bucks a year in this lousy economy. That’s it.

After 4 long years, AT&T High-Speed finally became available in my suburban area. I received a coupon in the mail for an offer of High-Speed DSL service for $18.00 a month.

Less than two days after it was installed, my HP computer fried. And here’s a surprise; the suits at AT&T corporate take no responsibly for the virus or whatever it was that took my 2.5 year old PC down.

So, I had to buy a new one. That was a $529.00 out of pocket that was not expected as part of the new High-Speed service that I purchased.

_____________________________________________________________

Did I mention the fact that during the install, AT&T told me to turn my anti-virus off?

They did. Now, in their wonderfully complex terms of service clusterf, they say that, “They make no warranty or guarantee for the AT&T Anti-Virus Security Suite whether or not it’s active.” Fun. I never used it. I turned off mine. That’s what they told me to do.

I’ve been given the runaround for the past 2 weeks in typical corporate fashion.

Do you have any ideas?

This was no coincidence.

Thanks!

How Many Toyota Prius’s Will Be Seen in The IFA Convention Parking Lot?

I’m looking for a few volunteers.

Prius

Would you mind doing a count for me? I’m interested in knowing how many Toyota Prius’s are in the parking lot at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Orlando, Florida during the IFA Convention.

You won’t need to bring a calculator, or even a pen and paper with you to do this little favor for me.

Just count with your fingers. It will be easy.

Really Apple?

Read this quote from the NYT;

We sell iPhones in over a hundred countries,” a current Apple executive said. “We don’t have an obligation to solve America’s problems. Our only obligation is making the best product possible.”

What a bunch of crap. No one asked the execs at Apple to solve our problems. Just stop contributing to them, you freaking jerks.

I wrote this one day before the huge New York Times article came out.

I almost talked myself into buying an iPhone in a couple of months.

No way, now.

Thanks, Anita

It’s all Anita Campbell’s fault. Did you know that I have over 1,000 articles on franchising published?

Did you also know that the first post I did that wasn’t on my own blog was published over at Anita’s award-winning website?

Here it is.

Thanks for having faith in me, Anita.
